Bio

A business advisor known for her practical and solution-based approach, Jenifer Bartman assists companies in transition, including early stage, financing, growth, and succession/sale of business. Her areas of expertise include strategic and business planning, financing readiness, executive coaching, marketing, and succession plan development and implementation.

Jenifer held the broad-based role of Vice President & Chief Financial Officer of a venture capital fund manager for over nine years. After playing a direct role in growing the business from the start up stage to having raised capital in excess of $125 million, she led the closing of the fund manager’s sale to a national venture capital company. As a result, Jenifer has direct experience in growing a business and raising capital, as well as the transactional aspects of investing and exiting.

Prior to this role, she worked as a management consultant, providing business advisory services to organizations across a wide range of industries. A graduate of the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Management, she holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree, majoring in marketing and human resources. Jenifer also holds the professional designations of Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) and Certified Management Consultant (CMC).

She is a published author (Master Your Investment in the Family Business: How to Increase After-Tax Wealth) and a contributor to It’s Your Money, Honey: A Girl’s Guide to Saving, Investing, and Building Wealth at Every Age and Life Stage. Her work has appeared in various publications, including Yahoo! Finance, Private Capital, Canadian Capital, CareerVision, Golden Girl Finance, Divestopedia.com, and Club Manager Quarterly. Jenifer has developed and delivered courses in a number of areas, including technology commercialization management, succession planning, business valuation for advisors, advising family business, and financial literacy for non-financial business leaders.

Jenifer has been actively involved with the Canadian Venture Capital Association (CVCA) since 2001 and is currently a member of the Communications & Research and Venture Capital Content Committees. She is a former member of the Board of Directors, Executive, and Finance Committees of Economic Development Winnipeg Inc. Jenifer has actively been involved in volunteer roles for over 30 years and was recognized for her efforts as the inaugural recipient of the Intercontinental Hotels Group Canada 2007 CSTA Community Service Award (presented by the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance).
